Champions League Preview

A trip to Moscow awaits Gordon Strachan's Celtic side who should feel more confident following an impresive 4-1 victory away to Falkirk.

The match will be played at Spartak's Luzhniki Stadium on an artifical pitch. The Stadium is actually owned by fellow Moscow club Torpedo Moscow.

Spartak have won 12 Soviet championships (second only to Dynamo Kyiv) and 9 of 14 Russian championships. They have also won the Soviet Cup 9 times and the Russian Cup 3 times. Spartak have also reached the semi-finals of all three European club competitions.

In the Champions League, Spartak Moscow have only won once, this was away to Sporting Lisbon in the final game of last year's group stage.
